Religious
life is a means of deepening our union with God and people. For Religious of the Sacred Heart
of Mary, the vowed life of chastity, poverty and obedience lived
in community is a way of
life which supports us in giving the gifts of ourselves, our resources
and our talents for the good of the total community.
Our life together
is nourished through regular celebration of the Eucharist, reflection
together on the Scriptures, community and personal prayer. We come together to discuss our values, our life together, and
to celebrate. These gatherings can be as small as three or four
persons living in a local community house or as large as an entire
province or congregation getting together to set direction for
the future.
Mary,
the mother and first disciple of Jesus, is our model of discipleship. Mary gave her unconditional YES to God. Unpredictable and even
impossible situations did not deter her from remaining faithful.
It is this total giving of herself to God that we wish to imitate.
Written
Constitutions of the Community are a guide on our journey of faith.
Our first constitutions were approved 150 years ago. Our constitutions today, which were approved in 1985, call us to live the same spirit
of faith and zeal that characterized our first community.
A vocation
is a call to an ever deepening relationship with God. Becoming
a Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary is the answer to a call
to follow Jesus in a particular way.
Religious formation is a journey to wholeness. Formation as a Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary is a life-long
process accomplished through stages which address the human, spiritual,
theological and mission dimensions
of the journey. We are always "on the Way".
